psalm twenty-one

"Es que un mundo todo vivo tiene la fuerza de un Infierno."
—Clarice Lispector, La pasión según G.H.

"There was a star riding through clouds one night, and I said to the star, 'Consume me'."
 Virginia Woolf, The Waves

To be consumed by a bolt of lightning

dramatically yet

effortlessly

To be caught praying under the birches

during a rainstorm

To wear my heart on my sleeve & all those

other wet melancholy phrases on

the tip of my tongue

To call you in the middle of the night,

to go away, be seen no more & dye

my hair one morning

To lie static on wet grass while it pours

& stay there & get

a green stain on my jeans

To get on the wrong train after midnight,

ride a bike on the wrong side of the road,

befriend the drunkards

that sit near the bridge

Until the sky stops spitting flashes &

bolts of light come out of my fingertips

dramatically yet

& I can’t help but living a little.

effortlessly
