four seasons

I.

I don’t

walk down the same streets or

drink coffee from the same cafés or

look up at the same clouds

   there were no stars

                                                                   as you

I see you though

                              quiet and unforgiving

                                                                         in other streets &

                                                                         other cafés &

                                                                         every other cloud

(Your dark hair &

the back of your head are unmistakeable—

but you never turn around)

II.

We did once

walk down the same streets &

drink coffee from the same cafés &

look up at the same clouds

  there was rain sometimes

                                                                            without holding hands

(Some days,

I see your sneering lips on strange faces—

mostly when I’m not wearing glasses)

III.

What would you say

If you were to find me

walking on the same streets or

having coffee at the same cafés or

looking up at the same clouds

                                                                                                       as you?

IV.

A veces no es suficiente

deambular por otras calles o

asfixiarse con café o

ver hacia arriba y sentir llover

 en otro idioma.
